These are all pots I made while working at Red Star Studios Ceramic Center, in Kansas City. I co-founded Red Star in 1998 and left in September of 2006. Susan Hill has been running the studio since I moved and I hear that great things are happening! Red Star Studios has many wonderful potters as studio members and teachers and I wish them all a very successful future.
Photography credit goes to my good friend Al Surratt, who did an incredible job photographing both me and my pots for 20 years, always putting up with my demanding perfectionism with a smile on his face! I miss Al’s involvement, but since moving to Illinois I have been shooting my own digital images.
All pieces are thrown and altered, raw glazed / Single Fired (primarily sprayed), with 4-8 glazes on each piece. These pots were reduction fired in Red Star’s 70 cu. ft. Geil car kiln.
