Steven Hill is BACK AGAIN! for another full 6 day participatory workshop at the center. In this workshop, working along with Steven, you will throw, alter and work with decorative slip. He will discuss his philosophy on making pottery, while throwing, assembling and decorating his forms and will demostrate the techniques he's well known for.
The focus of this workshop will be on spouts, handles, form, surface and the relationship of all these elements.
Steven will demonstrate pouring vessels, bowls, mugs, yunomis and other forms over the course of the week and students will concentrate on the forms that inspire them the most. He will also demonstrate and explain the glazing techniques he uses to achieve the kind of richness and surface variation in electric kiln firings that potters have come to associate with fuel burning kilns and reduction firing. Both basic techniques of spraying and the more advanced theories of layering and blending glazes will be addressed in the workshop.
Steven's bringing his guitars and fun evenings will be spent around the fire pit. Bring your instrument and join in the fun!
